Lone Ant

IMG_2136Sometimes on the Camino de Santiago you find yourself alone. Not one person ahead of you nor behind. Not too often during the busy months, but sometimes. You
are like that lone ant you see on the track, the one well away from the workers hauling left behind pieces of wheat from one side of the path the other. What is his Camino? Is he a scout, a loner or a cast out, or maybe just a bit tetched.

IMG_2206Quite often following the wheat harvest one sees those large black ants hauling pieces of wheat berries back to their nests. You know, the usual procession of hundreds or even thousands of ants from a hive going about getting in stores for the winter. Has happened for millennia and hopefully for many more.

IMG_2181But whom is this lone ant wondering about? Maybe he’s a bit like us: Maybe a scout, a loner or a cast out, or maybe just a bit tetched.
